A new song under construction is up for review in the cave. Please let me know what you think.
After almost two years of not picking up a brush (sorry Amber if you ever read this), I am back in front of the canvas and hoping to produce a black and white portrait as a surprise present for a friend. Photo’s of progress are being taken and will be posted in due course, if the outcome is worthy.
The excuse is I’ve been busy, the reason may be the fact I’ve been lazy in writing an update. I’m back taking vocal lessons with the amazing Anita Prime and I owe a big thank you to her for the wonderful Xmas concert we had in 2014 and for the support which is now seeing me wanting to perform on a regular basis.
I’ve bought EZDRUMMER 2 and an expansion pack as I think this is what’s holding back a few songs which have stalled. Time will tell if the purchase has made a difference.
Useful quote for the day ” Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.”

Recently, I had to make a very hard and difficult decision. With a lot of things going on, I needed stop taking my vocal lessons with Anita Prime. Being the student, perhaps I can’t discern how much I’ve learnt from such a talented performer and musician. I just wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge the wonderful work Anita does and to say thank you for the experience. For anyone reading, if you’re serious about wanting to learn or improve musical and/or vocal ability, get in touch with Anita at PrimeMusicAcademy.
Time has flown and the Website has practically become just a repository for old and dated work. True I have been busy on all things other than music and art but just this weekend I found some of the old spark to write and create. There is new stuff in the pipeline and it will be up as soon as possible. Hopefully the vocals will be a point of difference. After some training, I’m hoping there will be a difference, if at least noticeable to my own ear.
I’ve uploaded images of two paintings I completed this year. One is of Jo Langham, who builds his own guitars and pick-ups. I now have Langcaster pickups fitted to my Fender Stratocaster. They are fantastic and Jo is a great person. The painting is of him with one of his own guitars built from 30,000 year old kauri.
The second painting is of Richie McCaw and Thierry Dusautoir, who were the respective All Black and French captains in the 2011 Rugby World Cup Final. Some people commented I should’ve put a tear drop in Thierry Dusautoirs eye. You see I didn’t and maybe I should’ve put some beads of nervous sweat on Richie McCaws brow instead?
You’ll find the images here: http://www.audiation.co/my-new-hobby/
I’ve changed the theme for the Audiation.co website. I like the rustic look and probably goes with the fact everything on the website is old! No problem as I’m taking steps to address that. I have renewed my domain name so will be putting in some effort to get value for money.
Firstly I’ve purchased a new Takamine TAN46C guitar. It is a lovely piece of work and I can’t wait to start recording with it. Also, I’ve found a fantastic singing teacher and I had my first lesson on Monday 18th June 12. Heres hoping I can start singing songs where I actually like the sound of my own voice. I will be sure to post the first song since commencing singing lessons as soon as possible.
Well it had to happen. Total hard disc failure last week of the Audiation Studio Digital Workstation. Luckily most stuff was backed up but not all of it so there will be some time in the studio re-doing a number of tracks. It’ll be interesting to see how the new takes sound.
Needless to say, there is now a daily back up routine in place, as well as the weekly and monthly. Thumbs up to the software Paragon as well for restoring my disc image, when Windows 7 wouldn’t. Strange that although the disc image was created with Windows 7, it couldn’t use it to restore the files to a new disc. So again, massive thumbs up to Paragon and for the price of their software, it is money well invested.
OK, it’s been a long time since I did anything to the website or in the studio. I’m fixing that now. Today I started laying down some new ideas and updated the website. The update is a standard WordPress theme but it is really nice. The plan is:
1. Get some new songs completed and posted.
2. Finally get the download thing sorted so anyone can download my songs.
3. Finish up enough material to post a second album.
4. I’m thinking about getting back to playing outside the studio, you know, like in front of people. Mostly covers I think but also some original songs.
The new studio (man cave) is being built. Slow process but now with day light saving and a few other jobs around the place getting done, hopefully this project will be completed soon and all the recording studio gear moved in.
Thanks to all the ‘workers’ who’ve helped to date.
In the art department, I’ve pretty much finished the image of the big fulla. I’ve got it on the wall at home for a few weeks were I’ll see if it needs any last touches before sealing it with varnish.
I’ve started the Thom Yorke picture and will post regular updates to that one as I go along.
I have added a new page labelled “From the Cave”. It’s just a start but in there you’ll find a media player that is playing items I am working on. There is a heap more work / projects to upload for you to listen too and perhaps offer some advice on from a development perspective. All ideas welcome. Anyway, when I get some time, I’ll mix a bit more and post them up.
Enjoy yourself, wherever you are in the world. As my old mate Simon Lamb would say “Happy days boys”
Slowly getting the hang of this website business. I’ve uploaded some pictures I painted in art class. That gallery will grow with time and with luck, the quality will improve. Soon I will get the contacts page complete and uploaded. Additionally, if anyone wants to download my songs, this should be available in the next few days.
Thanks for dropping by.
OK so even after WordPress 101, it still took a bit of trial and error to get stuff up on the website. But now there are 11 songs under the songs tab. Take a look please. I will write more later in the week. Lots of stuff going on like building the studio, tracks being laid down, mixing / mastering to do etc…
